The earth cracked open a few inches below my feet.
I looked down, bewildered.
Have you ever noticed your own face when caught by surprise?
In a mirror, or in a photograph or in a reflection?
It's the most amusing thing to look at I tell you.
I wasn't scared or shocked so I bent down to take a closer look.
Water bubbled through that sudden crack and I saw my bewildered face.
The earth sealed up again without a breath.
